Researcher Profile

Ross Whitfield

Bio

Dr. Whitfield is a software scientist working in the Application Engineering Group in CSMD. He received his PhD in 2013 from the Australian National University using X-ray and neutron diffuse scattering analysis to study relaxor-ferroelectric ceramic materials.

He started working at ORNL in 2013 in the Neutron Science Division, mainly working on the development of diffuse scattering analysis software and the neutron data reduction software Mantid for Corelli and WAND² diffraction instruments. Now, he is working in CSMD on the data reduction of all the neutron scattering HFIR and SNS, along with another project involving the development of supercomputer workflow software for modelling of fusion reactors for the Fusion Energy Division.
