Wael Elwasif

Bio

Wael Elwasif is a research staff member in the Computer Science and Mathematics Division of Oak Ridge National Laboratory. Since joining ORNL in 2000, Wael has worked on many research projects that share a broad theme of enabling the use of advanced computer science concepts, tools, and methods in support of high end computational sciences. In so doing, Wael has worked with researchers from areas such as quantum chemistry, fusion energy, quantum computing, materials, renewable energy, traffic control, and automotive research.

Wael's research interests include tools for large scale coupled simulations, emerging programming models and languages for  parallel and distributed computing, many-task and large scale ensemble computing, and high level programming languages. Wael is also matrixed into the National Center for Computational Sciences (NCCS), where he works on supporting the Programming Environment and Tools for the Oak Ridge Leadership Computing Facility (OLCF).
