W. Brian Ray

Bio

Brian Ray is a Senior Technical Staff Member in the Data System Sciences and Engineering Group of the Computer Science and Mathematics Division at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory. For over thirty years, he has performed systems design, application development, technical leadership, and project management for a variety of projects and government entities. His focus is on database design and implementation with an emphasis on the smart database, or SmartDB, concept (i.e., treat the database as more than a persistence layer by leveraging the functionality within the data engine to implement and enforce business logic).

Current Project

Chemical Security Assessment Tool (CSAT): CSAT is an online portal that houses the surveys facilities must submit so the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) can determine which facilities are considered high-risk under the Chemical Facility Anti-Terrorism Standards (CFATS).
