Cory Hauck

Bio

Cory Hauck is a Senior R&D Staff member at ORNL, where his research has focused on computational aspects of kinetic theory and hyperbolic partial differential equations. In addition, he holds Joint Faculty Position in the Department of Mathematics at the University of Tennessee - Knoxville. 

Cory received his Bachelor's degree in Physics and Mathematics from the University of South Carolina in 1997 and, shortly after graduating, took an engineering position at Doty Scientific, Inc. in Columbia, SC. In 1999, he attended graduate school at the University of Maryland, receiving a Master's Degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering in 2004 and a Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics in 2006. Before coming to Oak Ridge, he was a postdoctoral research associate with the Center for Nonlinear Studies at the Computational Physics and Methods group at Los Alamos.  Cory was the 2009 ORNL Householder fellow (https://householder.ornl.gov/) and in 2015 was selected to receive funding by the Office of Science of the Department of Energy as part of their Early Career Research Program for his project "Hybrid Methods for Complex Particle Systems."
